For its two most popular shows, History Channel created a joint promotional campaign at the end of 2011, producing documentary-style spots that showcased the stars of both “Pawn Stars” and “American Pickers” interacting with their fans on the streets of Las Vegas. For this project, I handled audio-post duties on deliverables for a variety of outlets (broadcast, web, and cinema). Below, you can watch the 2:00 cinema spot that played as part of NCM’s “First Look” program.

In this documentary short, director Sean Dunne takes us inside the world of the Juggalos – an intriguing American subculture who meet once a year at a music festival called “The Gathering of the Juggalos“. As Bob Lefsetz put it, the Gathering represents “an endless carnival of the disenfranchised. An underbelly pushed under the rug, joining together to have a good time.” I had the great pleasure of recording the production audio for the film as well as handling the mix in post. Since its release, the film has gone on to become a viral sensation. You can watch the entire documentary below (note: there is a good deal of strong language and instances of brief nudity in the film – it is not appropriate for children to watch).

The promo campaign for History Channel’s Top Gear (Season 2) was a lot of fun to work on, as the producers really wanted music and sound-design to take center stage (many of the shorter variations were music and sound-design only, no soundbites from the show). Below, you can see one of the 60-second broadcast spots.

For those who aren’t familiar, a read-along is a multimedia product designed to help young children learn to read. The package consists of a book, combined with an audio program on CD (and in the past, records or cassettes). Throughout the course of 2010 and 2011, I worked on creating original sound-design for over a dozen of these products for Walt Disney Records and Disney Publishing Worldwide. Collaborating with producers Jeff Sheridan and Ted Kryczko, I contributed to titles such as Cars 2, The Lion King, Tangled, The Little Mermaid, Bambi, and Winnie The Pooh. In addition to the traditional book and CD packages, a handful of the projects that I worked on have been turned into eBooks, as well as iPhone and iPad apps.

This web-series was produced by Machinima to help promote the release of Volition’s ‘Red Faction: Armageddon’ videogame. Utilizing the game’s software engine, an original story was created to serve as a parallel narrative to that of the game itself, thus showcasing Armageddon’s characters and design. No sound from the game was available, so all of the sound effects for this futuristic, sci-fi environment had to be created (aliens, weapons, etc). In addition to the FX work, I had a lot of fun in the mix and working with the excellent score by Randall Crissman. You can check out the whole series here.
